550,000 Ford Fusions and Escapes Recalled

The Ford Motor Company recently recalled 550,000 Fusions and Escapes for potential rollaway risk due to faulty shifter cable bushings. The bushings can detach from the transmission, allowing the transmission to actually be in a different gear than what is shown on the gear shifter. When a driver is expecting the vehicle to be in park, the vehicle can end up moving instead. There are currently no expected accidents or injuries related to the defect. Ford recommends that drivers should utilize the parking brake until their vehicles are serviced.
Affected vehicles include 2013-2016 Fusion sedans and 2013-2014 Escape crossovers.
